$132 million federal funding to boost affordable housing in London
The federal government has announced over $132 million in funding through the Affordable Housing Fund (AHF) to support the construction of 370 affordable homes in London, Ontario.
The funding, provided as low-interest and forgivable loans, will help develop four key projects in partnership with the Vision SoHo Alliance, including Zerin Development Corporation, Homes Unlimited (London) Inc., Chelsea Green Home Society, and the London Affordable Housing Foundation.
The Vision SoHo projects will create mixed-income housing with supportive services for seniors, individuals with special needs, and families. Federal funds, along with contributions from the City of London and other stakeholders, will support these developments.
Minister of Housing Sean Fraser said, “Everyone deserves a place to call their own,” emphasizing the government’s commitment to addressing the housing crisis.
These investments are part of ongoing efforts to ensure Canadians have access to “safe and affordable” housing.
