Tourism Goes Up As Business Restrictions Go Down

Tourism has seen an increase alongside the reopening of businesses, up 2.3 per cent this past March, says Statistics Canada. New businesses opening up increased 1.6 per cent, as restrictions have lessened since the start of the year. Meanwhile, the number of business closures went down 0.7 per cent while the number of active businesses in March was 1.3 per cent below what it was pre-pandemic. This is the case across Canada, with the exception of the Yukon, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia, where closures increased slightly.
