Favourable AUV Drives Armstrong Sales

Armstrong World Industries, Inc. had consolidated net sales of $292.2 million for the third quarter of 2021, an increase of 18.6 per cent over net sales of $246.3 million in the third quarter of 2020. The increase was due primarily to favourable average unit value (AUV) and incremental sales from acquisitions. The mineral fibre segment and an increase in sales of 14.5 per cent year-over-year and the architectural segment had an increase in sales of 31.7 per cent. Overall operating income was essentially unchanged at $72.1 million from third-quarter 2020 results. Earnings before taxes were $99 million for the quarter, up eight per cent over $92 million in the year-ago period.
