Store Brands Have Increase In Sales

Store brands gained 6.5 per cent in dollar sales, while national brands increased 5.2 per in the first quarter of 2022, says a survey by the Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA). The survey also says 15 of 18 experienced store brand dollar growth with only deli cheese, home care, and tobacco declining. Deli prepared and bakery had the largest increases, up 14.9 per cent and 12.4 per cent. In March, store brand dollar sales grew 8.3 per cent year-over-year, nearly double the national brand improvement of 4.5 per cent. Furthermore, in January, private brand dollar sales grew 4.9 per cent, ahead of national brands at 4.8 per cent.
