Aecon Consortium secures contract for Winnipeg sewage plant upgrade
Aecon Group Inc. announced that the Red River Biosolids Partners consortium, which includes Aecon, has signed a contract with the City of Winnipeg to upgrade the North End Sewage Treatment Plant (NEWPCC). The $95 million project will begin with a development phase to refine the design and finalize costs, with Aecon holding a 33.3% interest.
The upgrade focuses on building a new biosolids facility and enhancing the existing primary clarification system. NEWPCC currently processes 70% of Winnipeg’s wastewater, making it a key infrastructure project. Substantial completion is expected by 2030.
Aecon’s CEO Jean-Louis Servranckx stated, “We look forward to safely delivering this project and working with our client and partners to extend the operating life of this essential facility.”
Aecon is also involved in the ongoing Headworks Facilities Upgrade at the same plant.
