April wholesale sales set to improve
An advanced estimate of wholesales sales for April shows them rising 1.6% of March, says Statistics Canada. The increase reflects higher sales in the petroleum, petroleum products, and other hydrocarbons subsector. This estimate was calculated based on a weighted response rate of 42.6%. The average final response rate to the survey over the 12 months preceding it was 82.1%. Wholesale sales for personal and household goods will decrease roughly 1.3% over March, while wholesale sales in the building material and supplies will decrease 1% and miscellaneous goods will decrease 6%.
