BC Builds breaks ground on affordable housing project in Whistler

Premier David Eby announced the groundbreaking of the first BC Builds project, aimed at providing over 100 affordable rental homes for middle-income families in Whistler.

The project at 1475 Mount Fee Rd. will feature two four-storey buildings with 104 units ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments. BC Builds, launched in February 2024, leverages underused land for housing projects.

The province is investing $12.7 million in grants and $27 million in low-interest financing. The homes are expected to be completed by 2026.

“It’s not just the mountains, it’s also the local families and residents who make Whistler a world-class destination, and we need to ensure they can afford to live in the community they built,” Eby said.
