BC commits $10 million for prefab facility

The government of British Columbia has committed $10 million to Massive Canada Building Systems towards a 91,000-square-foot mass-timber and building prefabrication facility in Williams Lake, BC. The manufacturing facility will use sustainably harvested second growth wood to prefabricate buildings. Mass timber locks in carbon while displacing the carbon emissions of steel, concrete, and traditional construction methods. Prefabricating building components that are engineered for easy site assembly reduces waste of materials. Massive's way to build will reduce construction time and increase the supply of housing throughout the province while contributing to a sustainable economy. Massive Canada is the first project approved under the new BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund. The facility should be in full production in 2024. Read the Government of BC's announcement here.
