BC Indigenous Housing Society wins 2024 Housing Provider of the Year Award

The BC Indigenous Housing Society (BCIHS) has been named the 2024 Housing Provider of the Year in the category of Inclusion & Equity by the BC Non-Profit Housing Association (BCNPHA). This award recognizes BCIHS’s leadership in creating culturally safe and inclusive housing for Indigenous communities.

CEO Brenda Knights, a member of the Kwantlen First Nation, expressed pride in the recognition, stating, “This is a testament to the strength and resilience of Indigenous communities.”

BCIHS, the first Indigenous housing provider in Metro Vancouver to receive the award, is behind key projects like Expo Boulevard and Sunset Kincaid, addressing the region’s critical housing needs. Knights credited the values of equity and inclusion instilled by her mother, Elder Marjorie Zeiger, for inspiring the organization’s mission.
