Boise Cascade First Quarter Sales Drop

Boise Cascade Company had sales of $1.5 billion for the first quarter of 2023, down 34 per cent compared to sales of $2.3 billion in the first quarter of 2022. Wood product sales, including sales to Building Materials Distribution (BMD), decreased 22% year over year; BMD sales decreased 35%. Overall net income was $96.7 million in the quarter compared to net income of $302.6 million in the year-ago period. The company says the decreases reflect a weaker environment from lower new single-family starts and commodity product prices was evident.
