Calgary building material supplier to double capacity

Star Building Materials, a Qualico Company, will invest $53 million to double the capacity of its Calgary, AB, location. Once operational, the expansion, combined with the company's existing facilities, will make the store one of the largest single-location building materials suppliers in the province. The expansion is anticipated to double the production of trusses, engineered wood products (EWP), prefabricated wall panels (PWP), and interior finishing. Work on the expansion will begin in the fall and the business should be fully operational in late 2024 or early 2025. The expansion site will consist of three new buildings for production, adding to the existing two. The company's current operations in its Alyth yard will be consolidated at the facility in Balzac. Since 1958, Star Building Materials has sourced, manufactured, and supplied building materials to builders, developers, renovators, and homeowners.
