Calgary rises, Toronto falls in top 10 most livable cities ranking
Calgary and Vancouver are among the world’s most livable cities in 2024, according to the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU). Calgary moved up to fifth place, tying with Geneva, while Vancouver dropped to seventh. Meanwhile, Toronto fell out of the top 10, ranking 12th.
The EIU’s Global Livability Ranking assesses cities based on stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure. Vienna and Copenhagen retained their first and second positions for the third consecutive year.
Calgary scored high in stability, healthcare, and education. Vancouver excelled in healthcare and education but faced challenges in housing. Toronto’s decline was attributed to rising housing costs and availability issues.
