Canada Boosts Ports To Strengthen Supply Chain
The ministry of transport has completed its ‘Ports Modernization Review’ which aims to advance the role of Canada Port Authorities and optimize their current and future roles. The review has led to legislative amendments that will help strengthen the Canadian supply chain, says Omar Alghabra, minister of transport. The proposed legislative changes include adjustments to port governance and financial management to provide ports with the tools to unlock greater performance, efficiency, and productivity in order to be effective instruments of public policy. This will help ensure their continued competitiveness and positioning as strategic enablers of trade and traffic given their central role as intermodal hubs that support supply chain performance and economic growth.
