Canada invests $970K in Uquutaq Society’s kitchen project

The Government of Canada announced an investment of over $970,000 to support the Uquutaq Society in Iqaluit with the construction of a new commercial kitchen and training space.

“We are proud to support the construction of the new commercial kitchen in Iqaluit, which will create jobs, enhance local food services, and provide valuable training opportunities,” said Minister of Northern Affairs Dan Vandal.

The kitchen will offer training programs in cooking and food handling, while generating revenue to fund the organization’s core services, including shelter and transitional housing for Iqaluit’s vulnerable citizens.

The project, funded by CanNor’s Jobs and Growth Fund, aims to create employment opportunities and strengthen the local economy.
