Canada invests in zero emission buses for Medicine Hat
The Government of Canada, in partnership with the City of Medicine Hat and the Canadian Urban Transit Research and Innovation Consortium (CUTRIC), has announced a $198,116 investment to develop a strategy for transitioning to zero emission public transit buses. This funding will assess the economic, technological, and environmental aspects of electrifying the city’s bus fleet, while identifying potential risks and challenges.
“By moving to electric vehicles we can help cut pollution, and build a cleaner and stronger economy,” said Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Sean Fraser.
Aaron Nelson, acting director of community development for Medicine Hat, highlighted the importance of this collaboration for a sustainable future. CUTRIC President Josipa Petrunic praised the joint effort as a significant step toward greener public transit.
