Canada launches $50 million program to accelerate homebuilding in Prairies

The Government of Canada has announced the launch of the Regional Homebuilding Innovation Initiative, a $50 million effort aimed at increasing home construction speed and efficiency across the Prairie provinces. The initiative, introduced by Minister for PrairiesCan Dan Vandal, seeks to address regional housing shortages by promoting innovative, modern construction methods.

Funding will support projects that implement advanced technologies in the residential construction sector, such as modular homes, 3D printing, and mass timber techniques, aimed at enhancing production and supply chain efficiency. This initiative is part of Canada’s broader Housing Plan, which seeks to meet growing demand amid rapid population growth in the Prairies.

Minister Vandal announced that PrairiesCan is now accepting applications from regional businesses interested in contributing to this effort.
