Canada launches RFP for new housing design catalogue
The Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities, announced the launch of a formal Request for Proposals (RFP) process for the Housing Design Catalogue. The RFP is seeking design services for low-rise housing, with submissions due by August 7, 2024.
Since January, the Government of Canada has been consulting with industry experts, homebuilders, and non-profit housing providers to shape the catalogue’s designs and features. These insights are detailed in the “Housing Design Catalogue – What We Heard Report.”
The launch of the RFP is the first phase of the Housing Design Catalogue initiative. The initial catalogue, scheduled for release in late 2024, will showcase up to 50 low-rise designs, including row housing and accessory dwelling units. The government also plans to integrate modular and prefabricated construction methods in future updates.
