City expands Canada Day festivities with new neighborhood events

The City of Barrie is enhancing its Canada Day celebrations by launching “Canada Day On The Move.” This initiative brings festivities to three neighborhood parks, in addition to the traditional downtown events on July 1.

Mayor Alex Nuttall announced the expansion, saying, “This year the City is enhancing our Canada Day programming to bring exciting celebrations to even more residents by holding pop-up events at local parks.”

The pop-ups at Sandringham Park, Lampman Lane Park, and Eastview Park feature family-friendly activities like a wildlife show, face painting, and games. Downtown, Open Air Dunlop will host themed activities and live entertainment. Fireworks over Kempenfelt Bay will begin at 10 p.m., with a rain date set for July 2. Barrie Transit will extend its service to accommodate the events.
