Class action settlement reached in Interior Molded Doors lawsuit

Proposed settlements have been reached in class actions alleging price-fixing of Interior Molded Doors in Canada. The settlements include CDN$1,151,920 from Masonite and CDN$1,060,000 from JELD-WEN. Both companies have denied any anti-competitive behavior or liability.

The Federal Court of Canada must approve the settlements, with a hearing set for October 30, 2024. The court will decide if the agreements are fair and in the best interest of the class.

Settlement Class Members include Canadians who bought these doors between March 1, 2014, and July 30, 2024. Individuals who spent more than CDN$400,000 on doors from the defendants may receive direct compensation. A CDN$100,000 charitable donation to Habitat for Humanity will benefit others.

Members may opt out by October 21, 2024, or file objections by October 18, 2024. Further details on claims will follow if the settlement is approved.
