Diebold Nixdorf offers AI self-checkout solution to reduce shrinkage

Diebold Nixdorf, a retail solutions company, has begun the rollout of its new AI-based checkout solution. This platform identifies more than a dozen of the most common sources of loss at self-service checkouts including if shoppers are intentionally or unintentionally miss-scanning, if a product doesn’t match its label, or if a customer accidentally leaves a product in the cart without paying.

Called Vynamic Smart Vision I Shrink Reduction, the solution features Smart Vision technology and complements Diebold Nixdorf's already-live AI-based solutions. The company can deploy the new platform without disruption through its existing in-store integrations.

This platform allows retailers to reap the benefits that self-service technology offers while managing and mitigating the associated risk of shrink. It also creates a better shopper and employee experience because the self-checkout process will not need to be disrupted by the need for human intervention as often.
