FCL Invests $1 Million In Community Projects
Through its Community Spaces program, Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL), on behalf of more than 160 local Co-ops, is investing $1 million in 13 community projects across western Canada. “Co-op Community Spaces is about our commitment to protect, beautify, and improve the spaces where communities across western Canada come together,” says Pam Skotnitsky, vice-president of strategy at FCL. “The work and dedication of our recipient groups is inspiring, and we are proud to contribute to projects that will benefit the people in these communities for years to come.” Since 2015, the program has provided $11.5 million to 160 projects in three categories: recreation, environmental conservation, and urban agriculture. The program was developed as part of Co-op’s commitment to invest in the communities it serves. This year’s recipients include Active Communities Alberta; Bengough Municipal Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Authority (Bengough, SK); Horizon School Division – Nokomis School Outdoor Learning Commons (Nokomis, SK); Hornby Island Athletic Association (Hornby Island, BC); Kinsmen Club of Lake Cowichan, BC; Lloydminster, SK, Agricultural Exhibition Association; Saskatoon, SK, Riversdale Community Collective; Waskasoo Community Association (Red Deer, AB); and the town of Milestone, SK.
