Federal and City investment boosts housing in Kingston
The federal government and the City of Kingston announced a joint investment of approximately $7.2 million to develop 30 new homes across three projects aimed at providing affordable housing.
The announcement occurred at 111 MacCauley Street, where Habitat for Humanity Kingston has completed eight homes, including two accessible units, for individuals experiencing homelessness. Nearby amenities include a revitalized park, community center, and library.
The second project at 206 Concession Street will offer 18 bedrooms for transitional housing and will include supportive programming from Addictions and Mental Health Services, with completion expected in 2024.
Additionally, 255 Yonge Street will host a four-unit development managed by Indigenous housing provider Tipi Moza, supporting Indigenous households and expected to be finished by winter 2025.
These projects reflect a commitment to addressing housing needs, ensuring safety and stability for vulnerable residents in the Kingston area.
