Federal funding boosts green housing for low-income London residents
The Government of Canada has announced nearly $500,000 in funding to support green affordable housing initiatives in London, Ontario.
On Monday, Peter Fragiskatos, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Housing, and Arielle Kayabaga, MP for London West, revealed that $425,935 will be allocated to the London Environmental Network’s Nonprofit Resiliency Project. The funding, provided through the Smart Renewables and Electrification Pathways Program (SREPs), will aid low-income nonprofit housing in achieving net-zero emissions.
The project offers training, environmental audits, and funding for sustainable home improvements, including rooftop solar installations. This investment underscores Canada’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting energy-efficient, affordable housing.
