FortisBC introduces $10,000 rebate for dual fuel systems

FortisBC has announced a new rebate program offering $10,000 or more to homeowners who install dual fuel systems, combining electric heat pumps with high-efficiency gas furnaces. This initiative aims to boost energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The dual fuel systems operate with over 100% efficiency under certain conditions, providing reliable heating and cooling throughout the year.

Eligible customers, especially those in Northern B.C., Indigenous communities, and low-income households, can receive additional funds, with rebates reaching up to $18,000. FortisBC’s Joe Mazza highlighted the program’s goal to make energy-efficient systems more accessible, aligning with the CleanBC Roadmap to 2030.
