Government announces $42 million for water safety and infrastructure upgrades
The Government of Saskatchewan, through the Water Security Agency (WSA), is investing $20 million in seven major capital projects near Lake Diefenbaker. The projects are part of a decade-long Infrastructure Rehabilitation Plan to enhance water security and public safety in west central Saskatchewan.
The initiatives include safety upgrades and spillway repairs at Gardiner Dam, a $12 million substation upgrade at East Side Pump Station, and control gate replacements at Broderick Reservoir. “These projects support a critical need to provide a sustainable and reliable water supply for many communities and industries in this region, as well as improving public safety for the increasing number of tourists who visit these popular sites each year,” said David Marit, Minister Responsible for the WSA.
With investments totaling $42 million for 2024-25, the WSA aims to support over 60 key water infrastructure projects across the province.
