Government invests in renovations for 155 housing units in North Bay

The federal government is funding renovations for 155 affordable housing units in Nipissing District, with work including steel roofing on complexes in North Bay’s northwest end.

Part of a larger $5.2 million project, this initiative aligns with the Liberal government’s commitment to retrofit critical affordable housing. The project includes converting fuel heating to electric, upgrading attic insulation, and improving accessibility for those with limited hearing and vision.

Nipissing-Timiskaming MP Anthony Rota emphasized the importance of maintaining existing housing stock, while the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board continues to call for more affordable housing to address a shortage of 200-300 units in the region.
