Government rebates available for home energy efficiency upgrades
Canadian homeowners can now take advantage of a range of federal and provincial rebates to improve their home’s energy efficiency. These programs aim to reduce household energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
The Canada Greener Homes Initiative offers federal rebates of up to $5,600, which can be used for upgrades such as insulation, windows, doors, and a pre-retrofit EnerGuide home evaluation.
In addition to the federal program, many provinces offer their own rebates for energy-efficient upgrades. For example, Ontario’s Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebate Plus program provides up to $5,000 in rebates, while British Columbia’s CleanBC Better Homes program offers up to $10,000 for high-efficiency heating systems like heat pumps.
To qualify for these rebates, homeowners must typically meet certain eligibility criteria and use qualified contractors. More information on programs can be found on the Canada Greener Homes Initiative website and provincial program websites.
