Grey Is The New Black In Roofing
Grey has become the on-trend colour for roofing, replacing black as consumers realize they don’t have to use only ‘safe’ colours for their roofs, says BP Building Products of Canada. Consumers are looking for something more interesting and turning to a mix of nature-inspired tones instead of traditional colours, says data from the roofing manufacturer. “Black roofing shingles have always been seen as a safe choice for consumers, but now people are starting to realize that softer neutral shades like grey can actually add more wow-factor to a home’s exterior,” says Nathalie Lambert, marketing director of BP Canada. “People are craving balance in all aspects of life and this applies to their exterior design choices as well. They want the best of both worlds – a balance of traditional and contemporary, soothing and invigorating, sober and bold, and a style that asserts individual personality at the same time.” The data also says that homeowners are merging shades such as light grey siding and dark grey shingles and combining a mix of shapes, colours, and textures to the exterior of their homes. The company has launched a multi-toned pale grey shingle called Morning Mist as part of its Mystique Collection. The shingles consist of a mixture of grey, white, and brown.
