Home Depot App Prioritizes Associate Tasks
The Home Depot is rolling out a homegrown app developed in 600 U.S. stores to help store associates prioritize tasks more effectively. The app, called Sidekick, is an add-on to hdPhones, mobile devices the retailer provides associates. The app is powered by machine learning (ML) and guides associates to prioritize the highest demand product, which shelf to restock, and the location of the excess product on overhead shelves. It also has machine vision to detect and fill out-of-stock products and locate products in stores. It will alert specific associates as to which tasks need to be completed first with a common tasking engine. The Sidekick release closely follows the launch of hdPhones. Since the launch, the retailer has rolled out more than 99,000 devices. It plans to expand deployment of the app to all U.S. stores by the end of the 2022 fiscal year.
