Home Hardware Stores Limited introduces first electric trucks with Volvo
Home Hardware Stores Limited, Canada’s largest dealer-owned home improvement retailer, has added two Volvo VNR Electric trucks to its fleet, marking a shift toward greener logistics.
The battery-electric trucks are the first zero-emission vehicles in the Home Hardware fleet and will be used for deliveries from the St. Jacobs distribution center to nearby stores. The charging infrastructure was funded through government programs.
“We are proud to introduce our new battery-electric trucks,” said Kevin Macnab, president and CEO of Home Hardware. The trucks, equipped with six-battery packs, provide a range of up to 442 kilometers.
Matthew Blackman, Volvo Trucks North America’s managing director for Canada, praised the move, stating it “is setting a new standard” for sustainability in the industry.
The trucks, supported by Vision Truck Group in identifying the ideal configuration, will help reduce emissions and noise in urban areas.
