Innovation Saskatchewan invests $400,000 to boost nuclear research
Innovation Saskatchewan has announced a $400,000 investment in the Sylvia Fedoruk Canadian Centre for Nuclear Innovation to boost nuclear research in the province, supporting up to eight projects, focusing on nuclear energy and medicine, with an emphasis on workforce development.
“This investment in the Fedoruk Centre will further strengthen and expand the province’s research capacity in nuclear innovation,” said Jeremy Harrison, Minister Responsible for Innovation Saskatchewan.
The Fedoruk Centre, established in 2011, has already supported 50 research projects with over $8 million in grants.
John Root, the centre’s executive director, highlighted the centre’s role in applying nuclear science to areas like healthcare and energy policy.
Since 2019, Innovation Saskatchewan has provided $15 million in operational funding, including $2.5 million in the 2024-25 budget, to support the centre’s continued growth.
