Lumber prices stabilize amid balanced market conditions

Lumber prices remained flat in late May as supply and demand balanced, according to Madison’s Lumber Reporter. Western S-P-F 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was priced at $384 per thousand board feet (mfbm) for the week ending May 24, up slightly from the previous week. This marks an 11% drop from $430 in April but a 10% increase from $350 a year ago. Prices are 57% lower than $901 two years ago.

Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) rose to $365, a 3% increase from $355 the prior week and 2% up from $358 in April. This represents a 22% decline from $470 last year and a 54% drop from $795 two years ago.
