Montreal project wins top architecture prize

The Montreal Chest Institute rehabilitation project, designed by NEUF architect(e)s, has received the Future Office: Project of the Year award at the World Architecture Festival (WAF) in Singapore. This prestigious event celebrates global architectural excellence, attracting nearly 1,000 entries from 68 countries in 2024.

The project, led by Jadco Group, also earned the WAFX Award for its innovative approach to repurposing abandoned infrastructure while integrating heritage and sustainability. The site will transform into a 450,000-square-foot life sciences hub, continuing its legacy in respiratory research.

NEUF architect Azad Chichmanian’s presentation garnered unanimous praise from the WAF jury. The project was also recognized by the Rethinking the Future competition and nominated for the DNA Paris Design Awards.

“This award paves the way for the next phases in the redevelopment of the former Montreal Chest Institute,” said Mayor Luc Rabouin.
