New affordable student housing breaks ground in Montréal
The Government of Canada, in partnership with the City of Montréal and L’UTILE, announced the construction of Le Méridien, a building featuring 168 affordable student apartments. Located at Ontario Street and Saint-Laurent Boulevard, the project aims to address the housing needs of students in the area, with an anticipated move-in date for the first cohort set for the 2026 academic year.
The total investment for Le Méridien amounts to $53.1 million, which includes funding from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and contributions from the city and the Students’ Society of McGill University. The project will accommodate around 280 students and will offer amenities such as study areas and a roof terrace.
