Omnichannel fulfillment now a priority, says report
Every retail industry has different needs when it comes to online sales and fulfillment; in fact, needs will vary even between individual retailers. However, a survey by Deposco and studioID shows that omnichannel fulfillment is a priority now and will continue to demand retailers’ attention down the road.
Nearly 60% of retailers say that omnichannel fulfillment is either ‘very’ or ‘extremely’ important, while only 13% say it isn’t important to their organizations. The survey suggests that some retailers may be confused about what’s possible with omnichannel.
The survey says retailers that prioritize omnichannel fulfillment experience several benefits, with the top benefit cited as achieving greater customer reach. Because their products are available and easy to purchase through whatever channel(s) their customers use, they naturally reach a wider group than retailers that offer products across only one or two platforms.
Lack of time and resources is named as the top obstacle to deployment, followed by lack of in-house tech expertise. Interestingly, 21% of respondents still get by with manual processes and say they don’t see a pressing need for fulfillment solutions yet.
