Ontario invests $970 million in water infrastructure to support 500,000 new homes
The Ontario government has announced a $970 million investment in 54 projects across 60 municipalities to support the construction of over 500,000 new homes. The funding, part of the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund, aims to develop and expand essential infrastructure, including drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
Premier Doug Ford highlighted the significance of these investments in tackling Ontario’s housing crisis. The Regional Municipality of Peel will receive $35 million for the G.E. Booth Water Resource Recovery Facility, enabling nearly 47,000 new housing units. The government is also adding $250 million for a second round of funding starting on August 14.
