Outdoor Living Trend Expands All Seasons
A drive toward ‘365 outdoor living’ means an increased demand for outdoor living features which will serve vital functions throughout the seasons, says Deckorators’ ‘2023 Outdoor Living Report.’ This means homeowners will be installing features such as shade structures for summer mid-day sun and fire features or heaters for when temperatures dip in the evenings and cooler seasons. The report says that if the backyard increasingly becomes more of a daily escape, the function and design of outdoor spaces will change to meet this trend. Trends include ‘outdoor living maximalism’ – where all amenities of home can be at the homeowner’s fingertips, without endless back-and-forth trips inside. Finishing touches are also important with designers thinking holistically about the elements that unify a project with its surroundings and the home. Natural neutrals are prominent, drawing inspiration from nature for a timeless look that incorporates warm wood tones and organic textures.
