Quebec invests $2.8 million to boost low-carbon wood construction and clean transportation
The Government of Quebec has invested over $2.8 million in FPInnovations, a not-for-profit research and development organization, to promote low-carbon Canadian wood construction. The funding, provided through Natural Resources Canada’s Green Construction through Wood (GCWood) program and the Zero Emission Vehicle Awareness Initiative (ZEVAI), will support three projects.
One project focuses on integrating zero-emission vehicles into the forestry and commercial transportation sectors. FPInnovations will collect market data, collaborate with Canadian partners, and develop market intelligence to promote low-carbon construction materials.
The organization’s efforts will include research and testing to facilitate the commercialization of various wood systems and generate data necessary for their adoption in Canadian building codes. Additionally, FPInnovations will support zero-emission or clean-fuel vehicles through demonstrations, short trials, and promotional resources to advance the use of clean transportation within the forestry industry.
