Retrofit Assist powers energy efficiency in Rossland homes

Rossland’s Retrofit Assist program has guided 183 residents through home energy retrofits over the past two years. The program provides free one-on-one support to help homeowners improve energy efficiency, with upgrades including insulation, heat pumps, solar panels, and new windows and doors. Participants benefit from customized advice, maximizing available rebates, and connecting with local contractors.

In 2023, the program reached its target in weeks, with retrofitted homes saving an average of 33% in energy costs and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by one ton annually.

Rossland’s Retrofit Assist is now expanding, offering up to $65,000 in financing through a partnership with SwitchPACE Community Interest Corporation. The program also supports local contractors and continues to host educational events on energy-efficient building practices.
