Safe haven: New housing units for violence survivors in Vancouver
Ten new homes for women and children leaving violence will open in Vancouver in the coming weeks, providing safe, short-term housing. The Province of British Columbia, in collaboration with the Battered Women’s Support Services Association (BWSS), acquired the units to offer second-stage housing.
These homes include four townhomes and six apartments, designed to support women transitioning from crisis to independence.
Premier David Eby emphasized the importance of secure housing for survivors, stating, “Everyone deserves a home that’s safe.”
This initiative is part of a broader $19-billion housing investment by the B.C. government.
