Saskatchewan invests $1.3 million to improve accessibility in disability support facilities
The Government of Saskatchewan is allocating approximately $1.3 million in capital grants to third-party service providers across the province in 2024-25 to support facility repairs and renovations for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
“Investing in our community partners means that individuals with intellectual disabilities have access to safe, high-quality, and accessible facilities and services,” said social services minister Gene Makowsky.
Twenty organizations, including Autism Services of Saskatoon Inc., will receive funds to improve accessibility and safety at group homes and community facilities. Planned upgrades include installing wheelchair ramps and accessible bathrooms.
Autism Services of Saskatoon Inc. executive director Lynn Latta expressed gratitude for the grant. “We know this renovation will enhance both functionality and daily enjoyment for the young men who call this house home,” Latta said.
