Saskatchewan marks National Housing Day with key investments
On National Housing Day, November 22, the Government of Saskatchewan highlighted its ongoing efforts to address affordable housing challenges across the province.
“Our government is working with Indigenous and community organizations and municipalities across the province to address housing needs,” said Social Services Minister Terry Jenson.
The government is investing $83.4 million in 2024-25 to repair and maintain up to 1,400 provincially owned housing units, with an additional $9.6 million to reduce vacancies. Additionally, the Saskatchewan Housing Benefit is helping low- to moderate-income renters manage housing costs.
Innovative initiatives, including a new rent-to-own program in partnership with Silver Sage and revitalization efforts in North Central Regina, are designed to improve access to affordable housing.
