Saskatchewan Party pledges increased home tax credits
Saskatchewan Party leader Scott Moe announced on Friday plans to enhance tax credits aimed at aiding homeowners if re-elected in the upcoming Oct. 28 election. Moe pledged to increase the First-Time Homebuyers Tax Credit to $15,000 from $10,000, responding to rising home purchase and renovation costs.
Additionally, the party intends to reintroduce the Home Renovation Tax Credit, allowing homeowners to claim up to $4,000 in renovation expenses, while seniors would be eligible for up to $5,000. This initiative could save homeowners up to $420 annually and seniors up to $525.
Moe also detailed a 40% increase in the Personal Home Care Benefit, expanding the monthly income threshold for low-income seniors in care homes to $3,500, which could include an estimated 1,500 more individuals. The party plans to increase benefits for 140 younger individuals residing in personal care homes by an average of $115 monthly.
