Sault Ste. Marie opens new affordable housing for veterans

Just in time for Remembrance Day, Sault Ste. Marie has opened a new affordable housing complex for veterans and their families. The nine-storey building, located at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25, provides 108 new homes, with 30% offered at below-market rents.

Funded by the federal government’s Affordable Housing Fund, the $32.1 million project also includes a new Legion branch with a restaurant, bar, meeting rooms, and community hall. The building also houses Veterans Affairs offices and the Military Family and Health Support Group.

Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland visited the site on November 1st, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting veterans with affordable housing and essential services.
