Saulteau First Nations unveil new Cultural and Recreation Centre
Saulteau First Nations celebrated the grand opening of its Cultural and Recreation Centre on July 24. The Centre, designed to blend traditional and modern elements, honors Saulteau heritage through exhibits of traditional arts, crafts, and historical artifacts. Interactive displays and workshops will educate visitors on Saulteau culture, languages, and practices.
Funded by the Community, Culture, and Recreation Infrastructure Stream, the Centre also features performance areas, a community hall, and outdoor spaces for ceremonies.
“The historical grand opening of our Cultural Centre has opened many doors for Treaty 8 nations to continue to grow and prosper together, utilizing their values and principles, creating a strong foundation on culture and tradition for future generations,” Chief Rudy Paquette said.
The inaugural event, the Healing the Land Conference, will take place October 7-10, 2024.
