SBC to lead key sustainability projects in partnership with NRCan
Sustainable Buildings Canada (SBC) has been selected by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to lead two major sustainability programs aimed at improving energy efficiency in Canadian housing. Announced on Energy Efficiency Day, SBC will spearhead the Codes Acceleration Project, supporting the adoption of higher building codes nationwide, and the EnergySPRING initiative, focusing on deep-energy retrofits for affordable housing in Ontario, including social housing and Indigenous communities.
The Codes Acceleration Project will help regional officials implement advanced energy codes, while EnergySPRING will address electrification and housing resiliency challenges.
“These projects not only align with our mission but also present an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Canadians,” said SBC executive director Michael Singleton.
Both initiatives are part of a broader effort to create more energy-efficient homes and reduce carbon emissions.
