Surrey's Kingston Gardens redevelopment to add 85 new rental homes

The redevelopment of Kingston Gardens in Surrey will provide 85 new rental homes for individuals, families, and people with disabilities, with construction already underway.

Federal, provincial, and local government officials announced nearly $50 million in funding for the project, including $29.4 million from the National Housing Co-Investment Fund and $8.3 million from BC Housing. The Metro Vancouver Housing Corporation is contributing about $12 million in equity.

The four-storey building, located at 15245 99 Avenue, will offer a mix of one- to four-bedroom units, including nine accessible units, and will be operated by Metro Vancouver Housing Corporation. The project replaces 24 aging townhouse units built in 1981, which were demolished.

Previous residents will have the chance to return once construction is completed, which is expected in spring 2023. The development is the first phase of a larger site redevelopment.
