Survey: Energy efficiency on top of mind of consumers on home improvements
JELD-WEN, a global manufacturer of high-performance interior and exterior building products, has released the results of its survey regarding the priorities of homeowners in the US on home improvements given the current situation of the housing market, revealing renovation for energy efficiency has been top of mind for most consumers.
More homeowners are saying now is a good time to renovate and that energy efficiency is a key motivator for those looking to replace or install new exterior doors. Nearly half of respondents (47%) are willing to pay extra for a more sustainable or eco-friendly product, and almost three-fourths (74%) are willing to pay extra for an upgrade that will guarantee long-term cost savings. Three in 10 homeowners are replacing or installing new exterior doors to increase the energy efficiency of their home.
“As the US home improvement market is expected to hit record highs this year, we’re seeing homeowners prioritize low-lift updates that create a high impact,” said Jim Parello, vice president and general manager of doors for North America at JELD-WEN. “Making investments in a home that will pay off in the long run is crucial, especially when it comes to energy efficiency.”
Other factors on top of mind of consumers include security, style, and appeal of the front door.
