Survey reveals Canadian homebuyer preferences
A recent survey conducted among members of the Angus Reid Forum explored Canadians’ preferences to buy a home in the next five years. The survey found that 64% of respondents preferred single-family homes, with detached and semi-detached properties being the most popular. Larger, renovated homes were favored by 64% of potential buyers, while 43% preferred properties with three bedrooms.
In terms of location, 38% of respondents preferred suburban areas, followed by urban settings at 34%. Only 28% chose rural communities. Additionally, 74% of those aged 55 and older preferred renovated homes compared to younger age groups. The survey, conducted from May 10 to 14, 2024, included a representative sample of 1,501 Canadians who are members of the Angus Reid Forum aged 18 years and above.
