Sustainability Should Include Healthy Economy And Just Society

There is a rising demand for businesses to focus on social factors to ensure that both companies and society are socially equitable and sustainable, says a report from ESG reporting software company Onyen Corporation. Beyond Environment says 83 per cent of Canadians believe sustainability should also take into account a healthy economy and a fair and just society. At 87%, women were more likely to feel this way than men (78%). Seventy per cent of Canadians say it is important to buy from or invest in companies with strong policies related to labour, diversity and inclusion, and equitable salaries for women and minorities. Most residents agree that COVID-19 and recent social justice movements highlight the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of society.
